Saturday, June 12th:The Air Force Cycling Classic’s Clarendon Cup is part of USA Cycling's National Racing Calendar, and is now in it's 13 year. The race showcases a form of cycling involving a series of high-speed bike races that take place on a 1km course on city streets. The Clarendon Cup is known as one of the most difficult criterium races in the U.S. due to technical demands of the course and the quality of the participants.
The day begins with various amateur races, followed by a women's field, then the Kids races. The day concludes as we bring out the pro Men's Teams in the Invitational at
Sunday, June 13th:The day will begin at 0730 with the Air Force Cycling Challenge Crystal Ride (the "Peoples Ride") which offers a 12.5 kilometer course open to cycling enthusiasts of all abilities, from casual amateur to serous racer. Bronze, silver and gold medals will be awarded for those who can complete 2, 4 and 8 laps within the 3.5 hour window that the course will be open for the ride. Eight (8) laps equals a metric century (100km).The day’s featured event is the Men’s pro race that will include some of the top pros in the world. The race will begin with a ceremonial start at the Air Force Memorial, immediately following an Air Force Flyover, and a rolling “official” start in Crystal City. Other activities throughout the day will include Kids races for children 9 and under and a lifestyle and sponsor expo in Crystal City. |
