The 2012 Air Force Cycling Challenge Crystal Ride

Brief Description:
The Crystal Ride is a non-competitive ride that will begin in Crystal City and pass by the Air Force Memorial.  It offers a closed course, open to both serious and casual amateur cyclists, but closed to traffic!  Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals will be awarded for those who can complete 2, 4 or 8 laps within the 3.5 hour window that the course will be open for the ride (closes at 11am).
8 laps will equate to a metric century (100 km).  You do not have to start at 7:30am, as you can check in up to 9am - it just all depends on how many laps you want to complete by 11am. There are two ways to participate, either through Standard Registration or as a fundraiser by being part of Team Sabre.

In-person packet pick-up will be available at the Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National Airport (1999 Jeff Davis Hwy, Arlington, VA), on Friday between 2-6pm, and on Saturday, between noon and 6pm.  You can also register on ride morning at the s/f line (check back, in case registration is full)

Option #1: STANDARD REGISTRATION

Entry Fee Includes: T-Shirt (for pre-registration BEFORE May 1 only), Timing Chip rental, Finishers Medal, Refreshments and Registration fee.

$50 General Entry
$40 Active Duty/Reserve Military Personnel
$10 Late fee after May 1

Option #2: TEAM SABRE

Entry Fee Includes:  Limited edition event jersey (first 100 receive jersey prior to the ride, others will receive jersey after the event), T-Shirt, Timing Chip rental, Finishers Medal, access into the Breakaway Club and registration fee.  Riders will start/finish at the U.S. Air Force Memorial.

Fees:
$60 non-refundable processing fee and a minimum pledge of $150, with the proceeds to benefit the Air Force Aid Society.

Jerseys: All Team Sabre riders will receive a limited edition Air Force Cycling Classic jersey.  These are not available for sale to the public.  Fundraiser generating over $1,000 will receive a Green Jersey.  Those raising over $2,000 will receive a Polka-dot Jersey, and the top fundraiser will receive the Yellow Jersey.

Option #3: Navy Federal Credit Union CORPORATE CHALLENGE

The Navy Federal Federal Credit Union Corporate Challenge recognition rewards will take place on the Air Force Memorial stage.  Each participating team will also be assigned a 10'x10' Feed Zone Tent on the hill in front of the Air Force Memorial on Columbia Pike.  Teams will be encouraged to invite friends and fans out to this area.  This area can be used to re-supply riders with water and food during the event.  Up to 6 riders per team, but multiple teams within the same corporation allowed. $500 minimum team/company pledge. Top three fund-raising teams recognized on stage. Top three teams by laps completed recognized on stage. Fund-raising deadline 6/6/10. Note T-shirts are only for pre-registered prior to May 17.

$200 per Corporate Challenge Team (up to 6 riders)

PACKET PICK-UP

Sunday 6:00-9:00am in Crystal City near the Start/Finish line

Pick up your Race Number, Timing Chip, T-Shirt and Rider Packet.

Must bring photo ID and if you registered in the discounted category, please bring your valid ID (or pay $10 step up fee).

For insurance reasons, you can only pick up your own packet - NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Please note that t-shirts will only be distributed to the riders registered PRIOR to May 21.

In-Person Crystal Ride Registration will be offered only if space is available

 


PARKING

Parking is available at the lot just south of the Columbia Pike and S. Joyce Street intersection. Please note that Columbia Pike and Washington Blvd will be closed on Race Day.
